What we're looking for

Backbar is seeking a QA Engineer/Tester with a passion for ensuring excellent usability and functionality in user-friendly applications. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, and should be able to consistently and effectively document and share test methodologies and outcomes with developers on the team. This person must be comfortable working closely with a small team as the main QA resource, and have the flexibility to work on clearly-defined as well as abstract projects to achieve a shared goal. This is an opportunity to work on fun and challenging projects and make a big impact in a start-up like environment as we are scaling up.


What you’ll do:

  • Design and build manual (and eventually automated) testing strategies to test existing functionality, bug fixes, and new features of the product
  • Execute end-to-end testing on features and flows for web and mobile application
  • Create detailed issues in Jira for bugs found in testing that clearly document the problem in addition to the expected functionality
  • Follow up and communicate with developers in order to help resolve any issues or bugs that have come up in testing
  • Utilize experience to help guide team through QA best practices

What you’ll need

  • 3+ years of experience working as a software QA tester
  • Strong familiarity with testing web-based applications
  • Strong familiarity with using iOS and Android simulators to validate app appearance and functionality
  • Familiarity with modern deployment concepts, including cloud infrastructure (like AWS) and configuration management
  • Bonus: Experience working with or building modern automated testing suites
  • Bonus: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
