How does POS integration work?

During the initial POS setup process, login to your POS system authorize permissions to connect your POS to Backbar.

During the POS setup process you will be directed to your POS where you will be directed to enter your login credentials and allow permissions. Your POS will then be successfully connected to Backbar. Then once you have completed the remaining setup process of setting standard serving sizes and mapping your POS items, Backbar will start recording operational metrics like sales,  profit, variance, and cost of goods sold for each mapped POS item. We do not import full sales data reports, only individual sales from closed/paid sales receipts, and only for items that have been Mapped between Backbar and your POS system.

Your Dashboard will show total sales metrics for the current month, and you will be able to see more detailed reports on each.

Please note, for all point-of-sale integrations, data only flows from the POS to Backbar, the integration is read only. Making updates to data in Backbar will not update your POS data.  Updates to items, mappings, serving sizes and on-hand quantities will only effect totals going forward from that point of adjustment.

The general flow of information in the POS integration is as follows:

Staff enters the item sold in the POS and any associated modifiers >

Once the bill is paid for and closed in the POS system, we receive the sale data in near real time on Mapped items only >

Backbar registers the sales item(s) and depletes the corresponding, mapped serving size from the sale >

Any modifiers adjust the sales items/depletions as determined by the modifier setup >

The sales price is read directly off the closed sales receipt (this accounts for comps, discounts, upcharges, etc) >

The sales reporting then reflects the sales, and the on-hand quantity in Backbar is depleted at that time.
